How to choose a generator
List the equipment you want to use at the same time. This helps you choose the right rating without paying for more than you need.
How much power do I need?+
Add the ratings of equipment that will operate together. Consider motor and pump starting currents separately. Our planner provides only an initial estimate.
Rated or maximum power?+
Compare rated power for sustained operation. Maximum power is a separate parameter and does not replace the continuous rating.
kW and kVA are different+
The catalog retains the units stated in the specifications. Do not equate kVA with kW without accounting for power factor.
Single-phase or three-phase?+
Choose for the connected equipment. Load distribution matters with three-phase models; the total rating is not all available on one phase.
What does an ATS do?+
An automatic transfer switch changes a compatible system between power sources. An electric starter alone does not guarantee ATS compatibility; confirm the model and connection design.
Follow the manual for your specific model. A qualified specialist should design and install the connection of a backup source to a building’s electrical system.
